[midokutsu, who?] [hotel carver]

Midokutsu is the most famed traveller and travel essayist/writer/philosopher in Japan.

みどりのくつした氏は日本で一番有名な、旅行家であり、旅行エッセイスト、作家、哲学者です。

He has travelled far more than 100 countries all over the world and writes about not only travelling but sex and life as well.
His essays on travelling appeared in a much talked-about prestigious magazine "GON!" for full one year.
He has his first book published in June, 2000.
The book at once became one of the national bestsellers of the year!!

彼は、世界百カ国以上をすでに旅し、旅行だけではなく、セックスや人生についても書いています。
彼のエッセイは、一時評判だった高級雑誌｢GON!｣に一年間連載されました。
彼は、2000年6月に最初の本を出版し、すぐその年のベストセラーになりました。

He loves travelling, always thinking about travelling.
Travelling is a very good friend of his, because he has no other friends.

彼は、旅を愛し、いつも旅のことを考えています。

Now, he is planning to go to the West African countries, but is terribly frightened by the mere thought of travelling there.

In 1999, the worldtraveller went from Japan to Cyprus, through China(including Tibet), Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, crossing all the borders by land(of course, you cannot go to Cyprus by land, don't be stupid!).
And he made it in only 2 months!
He named this travel 'Super Express Travel through Asia, code name HELL'.

1999年に、世界旅行者は、日本から、中国（チベットを含む）、パキスタン、イラン、トルコ、シリア、レバノン、キプロスと、陸路横断しました。
しかもそれを、たった2ヶ月でやったのです。
彼はこの旅を「アジア超特急地獄旅行」と名づけました。

In July 2000, he flew to Bangkok and took a train to the border with Laos.
He got a visa on the spot at the border and proceeded to Vientiane and Luangprabang.

2000年7月には、彼はバンコクへ飛び、列車でラオスとの国境へ行き、国境でビザを取って、ビエンチャン、ルアンプラバンへと進みました。

In these two recent trips, he met many funny, adventurous, interesting and stupid travellers on the way.
Exchanging ideas and thoughts mainly in English(sometimes in French) with them, he felt English is very important in the world travelling scene and is now feeling strongly that websites written in English by a Japanese is needed in the internet.

この最近の旅の中で、彼はたくさんの変わった旅行者と出会いました。
主に英語（時々はフランス語）で、意見を交換しながら、世界旅行者は、旅行に措いての英語の重要さを感じ、日本人も英語でホームページを作ることが、大切だと考えました。

The problem is that ordinary Japanse dare not read pages in English.
So I put some Japanese translation under English.

問題は、普通の日本人は、英語で書かれたページを読まないことです。
そこで、英語の下に日本語をつけることにしました。
